Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. Our order process for web subscriptions is conducted by our online reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle.com, who also handles product-related inquiries, billing and refunds. Some subscriptions are billed elsewhere — inside our iOS and Android apps, or through Stripe for existing web subscribers — see section 4 below.
1. Subscription cancellation
You can cancel your recurring monthly or annual subscription at any time in your account settings inside the HyperLingua app, or by contacting us at [email protected].
Cancellation stops future billing. Your subscription stays active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you keep full access to premium features until then. Cancelling does not automatically issue a refund for the current period — see section 2.
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
2. Refund eligibility
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on first-time web purchases, under the following conditions:
- Initial purchase. If the service is not right for you, request a full refund within 14 days of your first payment. No explanation is required.
- Recurring renewals. If an automatic renewal charge caught you by surprise, submit your request within 72 hours of the renewal date, provided you have not actively used the service during the renewed period.
- Technical issues. If you hit a severe technical problem that prevents core use of the service and our team cannot resolve it in a reasonable time, you are entitled to a full refund for that billing cycle, regardless of the windows above.
3. How to request a refund
Email [email protected] with:
- The email address associated with your HyperLingua account
- Your Paddle order ID or invoice number
- A brief explanation of why you are requesting a refund
We aim to respond to every refund request within 24–48 hours. You may also contact Paddle directly through the buyer support link on your purchase receipt.
4. Purchases not processed by Paddle
Some subscriptions are not billed through Paddle, and those are handled differently:
- iOS. Sold by Apple. Request a refund through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings.
- Android. Sold by Google. Request a refund through Google Play, and manage or cancel the subscription in your Google Play subscription settings.
- Stripe. Existing web subscriptions bought before our move to Paddle continue to run through Stripe. The refund conditions in section 2 apply as normal — email us and we will handle it directly, since there is no Paddle order ID for these purchases.
Store requests are subject to the applicable store's policies and to applicable law. If a store declines your request and you believe it was a billing error on our side, contact us and we will help where we can.
5. Processing time
Once approved, refunds are processed by Paddle.com back to the original payment method. Funds typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or payment provider. Paddle sends a confirmation email when the refund is issued.
6. Your statutory rights
If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content within 14 days, subject to the exceptions in applicable law. Nothing in this policy limits that right or any other right you have under mandatory consumer protection law. Our 14-day guarantee is offered alongside those rights, not instead of them.
