Which Italian is this?

This is standard Italian (it-IT) — the language of national media and of getting by from Milan to Palermo — not a regional dialect. You will still hear dialect in the street; the course gives you the Italian everyone understands.

Who it is for

Travellers, opera-and-food romantics who actually want to speak, and beginners who do not want a year of definite articles before “un caffè, per favore.” Family heritage learners who understand more than they can say belong here too: recall forces production.

Pronunciation

Pure vowels, geminate consonants (anno vs ano), and a syllable-timed rhythm are the job. English diphthongs on e and o make you sound foreign immediately. Shadowing native sentences is how those doubles and vowels settle; reading alone will not.
