Which Russian is this?

This is contemporary Russian (ru-RU), the standard you will hear in media and in most cities. Stress moves; that is part of the language, not a bug. The course uses Cyrillic from the start. Romanization is a crutch we do not build the habit on.

Who it is for

Beginners, heritage speakers who understand babushka but cannot answer, and learners who stalled on case tables. Travel, literature, work, or family are all valid reasons; the method does not change: audio, shadow, recall.

Pronunciation

Palatalised consonants (“soft” vs “hard”), vowel reduction in unstressed syllables, and the rolled r are the sounds romanization lies about. Shadowing native Russian — full sentences — teaches reduction automatically. If you pronounce every o like a stressed o, you will sound like a textbook, not a person.
